Built in 1981, this is an expensive, state-of-the-art performance center with four theaters (the largest one holds an impressive 1,875 people) hosting world-class concerts, ballets, operas, plays, events, concerts by big Latin American pop stars, and even a tour of Hairspray in Spanish. Even if you don't have time to take in a performance, swing by to check out the impressive outdoor art installations, including bare-breasted bronze muse statues, the 50s-style abstract Mural de Las Musas, and the 54-panel "Forma y Trópico" stained glass windows. Although a little out of the way to other tourist attractions, it's conveniently located near Santurce's gay nightlife.
