Parks and OutdoorsExpert Tips & Helpful Hints
- The Smithsonian of South Carolina. Well-chosen and well-interpreted. Plenty of interactive opportunities for the kids as well.
- Though it's not the Great Outdoors per se, the State Museum dedicates an entire level to the South Carolina's natural history. If it works logistically, this is a good spot to familiarize yourself with the region's plants and animals, including seven venomous snakes, before you meet them in the field.
- On the first Sunday of each month, the museum drops its admission prices to one dollar.
