  • If you've navigated the River Walk before, take it in again. In 2009, a new extension north of downtown opened: Museum Reach makes the pathway four miles long. Most of the bustling restaurants and bars are still found along the original section, making the new area ideal for strolling couples seeking more solitude. As a bonus, public art installations add a colorful dynamic to Museum Reach.
  • Offering inexpensive 40-minute tours of River Walk's original section, Rio San Antonio Cruises operates between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. daily, embarking from one of four stations downtown. Consider a dinner cruise, catered by one of the restaurants along the river, or—better still—hire musicians and charter a barge privately to mark a special occasion.
Wending romantically through downtown San Antonio, 20 feet below the street, this iconic passageway into the heart of the city is lined by a pedestrian path lovingly landscaped and draped by 100-year-old cypress trees. The meandering river is also lined with popular restaurants and bars, adorned after dusk with hanging lanterns.
