Any queer theater lover visiting Providence should catch a performance at the Tony Award-winning Trinity Repertory Company, run by out director Curt Columbus, formerly of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company (he debuted his gay-themed musical Paris by Night here in 2008). This cozy theater with nearly in-the-round seating was founded in 1963 in an historic landmark built as the Majestic Theatre in 1917, and is one of the most respected in the country, with over 50 world premieres and having mounted many international tours. The handsome company cast includes out performers you’ll spot at the local gay bars.
