Creative expression is a way of life for Providence residents, and Waterplace Park is a gallery in its own right, showcasing the work of countless fine and performing artists. There's never a shortage of scenery for the bikers, joggers, and couples who stroll the grounds—along the paths that circle the water and on the painter's canvases that fill the park with color. Waterplace hosts a Summer Concert Series and Convergence art festival every year, but is best known for its WaterFire installation, a series of bonfires on metal braziers that light up Providence and Woonasquatucket Rivers. Barnaby Evans' fantastic interpretation of the elements, WaterFire's flames dance to the crescendos of a classical soundtrack.
