From the Sandstone Quarry this very strenuous five mile trail heads north over a narrow rise, in and out of a wash. The trail then continues for a short distance along the northwest side of Turtlehead Peak. You will need to scramble up a ravine to the saddle and follow the steep ridge to the top. The trail is intermittent and composed of loose rocks, so be careful of your footing.
Please Note: Carry water, at least one gallon per person per day in the summer. Wear appropriate footwear suitable for hiking and a hat. Watch the weather, mountain thunderstorms can cause flash flooding in the canyons and nearby washes.
Directions: From Las Vegas, Travel ten miles west along State Route 159. Once at the Red Rock Canyon Visitor Center travel west along the paved road until the Sandstone Quarry.
Difficulty: Strenuous
