A local historic landmark, Latta Arcade was designed in the Beaux-Arts (neoclassical) style by Michigan native William H. Peeps. The light-filled building located in uptown Charlotte was once intended for cotton grading. Latta had high hopes for the space back in 1875 when he traveled to the area to start a men's clothing shop. He later partnered with the Southern Power Company to develop the Mercantile Development Co., finally opening Latta Acrade in 1915. Today, the enormous space houses offices, fine boutiques, and restaurants.
