The American Victory Museum & Ship is a world-class shipboard maritime museum dedicated to the sailors who built, sailed, protected, and provided service to the American Merchant Fleet since 1775. The world-class SS American Victory is an incredible specimen, built in 55 days and delivered to the U.S. War Shipping Administration by the California Shipbuilding Yard on May 24, 1945. After serving in WWII, and the Korean and Vietnam wars, the ship went through a $2.5 million restoration in 1985. Aboard the American Victory, visitors can relive history by visiting cavernous cargo holds, radio and gyro rooms, the hospital, the galley, mess halls, the engine room, crew cabins, and more, and then gaze upon photographs, uniforms, medals, documents, and naval equipment. A guided tour is the ideal way to see the ship in its entirety and learn about its history. Tours are one hour and cost $4 per student and $10 per adult.
