Gay Senator Ken Cheuvront is the man behind this charming, modern, gay-adored bistro and wine bar. Cheuvront has won accolades, including a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. The wine list is extensive, the staff genial, and the clientele often predominantly gay and lesbian. Award-winning artisanal cheese, charcuterie, and vegetable plates accompany the wine and the eclectic, Mediterranean, and Southwest-influenced menu. Stand-out dishes, such as filet mignon with green peppercorn brandy cream sauce and pumpkin bread pudding, are excellent, but they play second fiddle to the vintages on offer. Twice monthly, Cheuvront puts on an educational wine tasting with one of the Valley of the Sun's top sommeliers for just $20, cheese plate included.
