The Bayside Trail leads two miles through the eastern side of Cabrillo National Monument. It begins from the parking area at the visitor center and winds southward through the park grounds. The trail passes the Old Point Loma Lighthouse, where interpretive panels tell visitors about the light's history. Descending toward the point, the trail leads toward the ruins of the U.S. military defense system, which was active during World Wars I and II. The trail follows an abandoned Army road through the monument as and coastal sage scrub. The trail provides excellent views of the San Diego Bay.
