Historically a meeting ground for Native people and a base for Europeans as they expanded into the prairies, this landmark and national historic site is a 56-acre riverside property in downtown Winnipeg with a multitude of activities and attractions. Pull up a chair on a patio and watch the buskers, join a Parks Canada guided walking tour, hop aboard a riverboat cruise, rent a paddleboat. It is host to a multicultural food court, shops, water taxis, the Manitoba Children's Museum, the Manitoba Theatre for Young People, and the Riverwalk. Events—over 200 a year—include theater performances, concerts, festivals, and fireworks.
