This popular hip, yummy eatery deep in the heart of the Castro gayborhood has been a gay favorite for years, especially for Sunday gay brunch, with chef Melinda Randolph dishing up everything from herb-roasted chicken to seafood paella and crispy fried sweetbread. In true San Francisco style, all of the meat and seafood is hormone and antibiotic free and sustainably farmed, and the menu emphasizes classic Californian and Pacific Rim cuisine. Come on Tuesdays, when all entrees such as braised pork shoulder in salsa rojo and crimini mushroom risotto are just $12. The garlic mashed potatoes are gaining a cult following. Though the service can be off-putting, overall it's a chatty and fun place to while away the evening.
