- You can bring your bike to Angel Island or rent one there, and cruise the island's paved Perimeter Trail or dirt fire roads. The best hike on the island is the North Ridge and Sunset Trail Loop that travels to the summit of Mount Livermore (796 feet), the highest point on the island. Despite its miniscule elevation, the summit's 360-degree view will knock your socks off.
- One of the best ways to explore Angel Island is to spend the night at one of its campgrounds. Advance reservations are required and all camps require a hike of one to two miles each way. The Ridge camps on the island's west side are favored because of the views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, but be prepared for strong winds.
