• The cruise to Victoria with tea at the Empress Hotel makes for a wonderful day outing. Watch for sea birds from the ferry as you cross Puget Sound, includin cormorants, grebes, and murrelets, and also be on the lookout for porpoises, seals, and even orca whales.
• If you can afford the time, book an overnight cruise to Victoria on the clipper. The price for overnight packages is reasonable, and it's nice not to have to hurry yourself in Victoria to get back to the ferry.

• It's just a two- to three-hour cruise on the high-speed ferries from Seattle to Victoria, Canada. The cruise goes through Puget Sound into the Strait of Juan de Fuca past the San Juan Islands to Victoria's Inner Harbor.
• You can tour Victoria on your own as soon as you arrive or buy a package with specific sightseeing.
• Don't forget—you're crossing the border into Canada so you need to bring identification and proof of citizenship. If you're traveling with your kids, you must provide identification and proof of citizenship for them, too.
