A 15-minute drive north of Traverse City you’ll find a gem of a children’s museum that lets kids (and their adult friends) access an interactive and hands-on education about natural habitats, industries, and people of the Great Lakes region. A recently-renovated facility offers kids even more learning and playing opportunities, including a brand new water table exhibit that allows kids to channel and redirect the flow of water, create waves and eddies, and, for little ones, simply splash and play. Another new exhibit, the Lighthouse Keeper’s Quarters, teaches children about the history and role of lighthouses, as well as the people who lived and worked there. Toddler Beach provides young children and babies with a safe and stimulating place to play, and the new Listening to the River exhibit uses cutting-edge technology and multimedia to create an interactive and kid-friendly model of a watershed.
