The Church Street Marketplace is more than just a shopping center; it's a Burlington institution. The historic 19th-century, four-block district boasts entertainment, restaurants, boutiques and shops offering everything from candles and crafts to clothing and haircuts, intermingled with 28 different eateries. Street vendors sell kettle corn, hot dogs, Chinese dumplings, and more, and street entertainers including clowns and caricature artists line the charming Art Deco walkway. You'll also find well-known favorites like Border's Books and Music, Banana Republic, and Urban Outfitters. There's also a mall, cleverly hidden underground so as not to interfere with the marketplace's period appeal.

Through traffic is not allowed on several of the streets bordering the marketplace, creating a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere. Festivals, fountains, public art displays, and regular live entertainment keep things interesting year-round.
