No previous paddling experience is required to join a kayak tour of Victoria Harbour and the Gorge Waterway with Ocean River Sports. There's also no minimum age requirement. Young paddlers join mom or dad in a double-seater kayak, sitting up front and paddling at will, while non-paddlers five and younger are accommodated in a special model—a double kayak with a middle seat that's geared for small passengers. From mid-May to mid-September—and by request at other times of the year—Ocean River Sports offers this 2.5-hour guided tour five days a week and also during sunset on Fridays. It's a relaxed paddle in calm, protected water, and it's a new perspective on Victoria's cityscape and historic harbor. Where the harbor gives way to the Gorge Waterway, there are parks and suburbs, protected coves and pocket beaches, all just minutes from downtown. Children younger than 12 are half price.
