• Often billed as Alaska's most-climbed peak, Flattop is a bit of a must-do for the hike-minded. The 1.5-mile, 1,350-foot hike to the broad summit takes most people about an hour and provides panoramic views of Denali, Foraker, and the Aleutians. For a longer hike, continue down the ridge to Peak Two or Peak Three.
• Flattop Mountain Shuttle (279-3334) provides shuttle service between Downtown Bike Rentals (4th and C) and Flattop for $22 per person round-trip.
• For a longer hike with less company, hike from the Glen Alps trailhead five miles one-way to the scenic Williwaw Lakes or 6.25 miles to The Ramp for spectacular views in all directions.
