Georgia Aquarium (courtesy of Georgia Aquarium)

The Georgia Aquarium is the world's largest and has drawn more than six million visitors since it opened in November 2005. It contains more than 60 exhibits—from Cold Water Quest, which showcases fish and marine mammals native to cold water oceans (including beluga whales and harbor seals), to Tropical Diver, featuring tropical coral reefs arranged like a gallery of living art—all in over eight million gallons of water. The aquarium also boasts a 4-D theater with interactive seats and unique special effects, as well as behind-the-scenes tours, a popular lecture series, and a summer camp for children. One of the aquarium's major goals is to be a leading facility for aquatic-animal conservation and research. Its state-of-the-art Correll Center for Aquatic Animal Health was designed by world-class veterinary professionals and conservation organizations. The Georgia Aquarium is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays.
