Fox Theater (courtesy of Michael Portman)

Historic Fox Theatre is one of Atlanta's premiere entertainment venues, with 5,000 seats and more than 300 performances a year—ranging from Broadway shows and rock concerts to comedy and movies. It is on the National Register of Historic Places. The building originally served as the headquarters of the Shriners organization in the early 20th century, and then opened as a theater during the Great Depression. In 1987, a fundraising campaign was launched to restore the theater, and to date $30 million has been spent on restoration projects. Tours are offered throughout the week.
