This public non-profit foundation was established in 1990, although it has been exhibiting art since 1969. Dedicated to supporting artwork in all media forms deemed "too gay" for mainstream museums, the gallery showcases a closet-busting collection that is diverse, erotic, political, romantic, and socially charged. The foundation also hosts video events, workshop presentations of plays, poetry readings, artists' and curator's talks, panel discussions, and puts out a quarterly journal. Lesbian work is well represented, although the majority of the art is of a male nature.
