why is colorado called the mile high city

Colorado is not a city, but Denver is called the "mile-high city" because the elevation is offically 5,280 feet (one mile above sea level). If you visit from sea level, be sure to drink lots of water because the altitude will often cause dehydration.

I assume you mean Denver, not Colorado! It's called the Mile High City because it's at an elevation of 5,280 feet, which is a vertical mile.
