While in Chicago for an FBLA convention for students back in the late 1970's, we stayed in a hotel near the waterfront and ate deep-dish pizza at a place recommended to us but I cannot remember that name. It was near enough to our hotel for us to walk; the main dining area was down a short flight of stairs; and the students liked it so well we ate there at least 3 times during our short stay. I would like to be able to eat there again. Any ideas???

Being long standing favorites in the city the pizzeria that you visited was probably Pizzeria Uno or Due, (same company)known for their deep dish pizza. There are a few other local favorites but these would be most attractive to tourists.
