Colorado Springs is pretty much a year-round destination. Set at an altitude of 6,035 feet and classified as an alpine desert locale, it does get some snow in the winter but not quite as much as its northern neighbors like Denver or the resort towns tucked higher in the Rockies. Summer days will be hot but not too humid, though for my money I'd recommend the onset of spring and the blooms of the colorful spring wildlflowers in splendid Garden of the Gods. If you're thinking of humping up an area 14er like Pikes Peak, you should probably steer clear of the winter months unless you're a skilled mountaineer. Spring, summer, and fall are great months for getting out and exploring area attractions like Pike National Forest (http://gorp.away.com/gorp/resource/us_national_forest/co/co_pike_2.htm).
