Great Falls, centrally located in Montana, is an ideal non-touristy location. Plenty of things to see and do, surrounded by small towns (that aren't over run with tourists), interesting local events.

Hi Mary. I'm answering your question on behalf of the Montana Office of Tourism. It would helpful to know what kind of experience you're looking for - city life, outdoor recreation, wildlife watching, etc. For towns or cities, I would recommend Missoula, Bozeman or Livingston - you would get a good feel for local life. For other suggestions, please email me with details on what you're seeking and I would be happy to provide more suggestions. dsexton@mt.gov
