When in the Black Hills awhile back we camped in an equestrian area. Does anyone know the name? There is supposed to have a legend of a horseman. Do you know anything about this legend?

Thanks for your question. Two National Forest horse camps offer convenient starting points for rides into the Norbeck Wildlife Preserve and Black Elk Wilderness of South Dakota's Black Hills National Forest. Willow Creek horse camp southeast of Hill City is a charge camp with reservations required in the summer, free in winter. Iron Creek horse camp east of Custer is a small noncharge facility near the Wilderness boundary. Other agencies have horse camps, and some private resorts offer horse rentals and guided horse trips. As for the legend, I'm sure there are many in this area, especially relating to Native American lore. You can read up on a few of the stories at: http://www.legendsofamerica.com/SD-Mainpage.html
