What's the best beach to go to on Maryland's eastern shore?

I live in DC and I'm looking to go out to Maryland's eastern shore for a weekend escape. What are the best beaches/towns to visit? I'm looking for a relaxing spot to sit on the beach and then check out some restaurants/bars in the evening.

I'd recommend Rehoboth Beach, which is about three hours' drive from the D.C. area. There's a fun boardwalk with some rides and souvenir shops, plus the beach is clean and not terribly crowded. If you're feeling active, you can rent bikes and ride down to nearby Dewey Beach, which has a more laidback, family vibe. There are loads of good restaurants in Rehoboth, including the ever-popular Claws Crab house on the main Rehoboth Ave. drag. Word to the wise: if you plan on traveling there on a Friday, leave early (or even go on Thursday night) to avoid the area's notorious beach traffic! Last tip: Cape Henlopen State Park in nearby Lewes is a beautiful spot at which to camp, with sites in the dunes right next to the ocean.
