- up down
Plenty of choices for you in the summer, though note that a lot of the outdoor activities that you can set up through local outfitters will take you out of city limits and toward the mountains, trails, and streams of places like Canmore and Banff National Park. Calgary itself, though, offers plenty of outdoor options and boasts hundreds of miles of local biking and hiking trails. For starters, I'd head to Canada Olympic Park, which offers summer bobsleigh rides (on wheels instead of ice), zipling, and a network of killer mountain-bike trails. Nose Hill Park is another urban park with trails that you could hit with bike rental from one of Calgary's outdoor shops. If you're into fishing, you cast a line into the Bow River right near downtown. As I said, other outdoor options include rafting the Bow River and climbing trips in the Rockies, though these will take you out of Calgary proper and out toward Banff (where I hope you're also headed, as it's an amazing part of the world!). Are you in town for the Calgary Stampede? That's a fun time.
