Here are some ideas for you courtesy of the good folks at Chicago's Office of Tourism:
Free/open to the public:
New Year's Eve Dance Party featuring DJ Warp at Navy Pier (10:00pm-11:30pm): Acclaimed Chicago turntablist DJ Warp will be remixing tunes live in the Family Pavilion. This year for the first time, the dance party performance will be broadcast throughout the Pier.
Ronald McDonald's Family New Year's Eve Bash at Navy Pier (concert at 6:00pm; fireworks at 8:15pm): Navy Pier will present a family-oriented party where little ones can ring in the New Year, including a special New Year's Countdown culminating in a Family Fireworks show at 8:15pm.
New Year's Eve Midnight Fireworks at Navy Pier (midnight): See in 2009 with Chicago's only lakefront fireworks show set to a special soundtrack.
For more information on the above events, visit http://www.navypier.com or call (800)595-PIER.
Private/ticketed parties:
Odyssey Cruises - New Year's Eve: Enjoy dinner, dancing, music, and skyline views aboard Chicago's most luxurious cruising vessel. Price is $219.90 per person, which includes butlered hors d'oeuvres, chocolate fountain, premium bar package, live entertainment and dancing, boarding photo, and champagne toast at midnight. More info at http://www.odysseycruises.com or call (888)741.0281.
Mystic Blue Cruises 2008 New Year's Celebration: Dancing, champagne, good food, and a front-row seat for the midnight fireworks. Tickets are $146.90 per person, which includes open premium bar, DJ entertainment, champagne toast at midnight, and midnight fireworks from Navy Pier (weather permitting). More info at http://www.mysticbluecruises.com or call 877.299.7783.
Of course, there are countless other options throughout the city for seeing in 2009 in grand style. Have a great night!
