As a travel destination, Maryland is most known for its Chesapeake Bay waterfront, with excellent sailing in the Annapolis area and great beaches on the eastern shore near Salisbury. Baltimore is a historic city with a beautiful area in the Inner Harbor and family activities at Haines Point. Farther west, you'll find Civil War battlefields and even a small stretch of the Appalachian Trail.
