Being a Scot, I commend your choice of vacation destination! Two weeks should give you plenty of time to explore -- good thing, too, as there are loads of must-sees! The capital, Edinburgh, is a beautiful city with loads to see and do: Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street, the Royal Mile, Arthur's Seat; mix up the history with plenty shopping, eating, and cultural events like dance and theater performances. Next, hire a car and spend a night or two over in Glasgow, Scotland's biggest city and home to lots of top-class entertainment and shopping. It's not as visually arresting as Edinburgh, but Glasgow has a vibe and character all of its own. Then motor on up to the west coast of Scotland, perhaps scheduling at least a week of your vacation to explore beautiful locales like Argyll, the Isle of Skye, and areas around Fort William and Loch Ness. On your way back south, swing through Stirling to visit Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument before heading back to either Glasgow or Edinburgh. Have a great trip!
