Sounds like you'll want to access the BWCAW via Duluth and Ely, MN, if you're driving up from Illinois (a long 500-mile drive, by the way). Loads of great options for places to explore and camp, so it's hard to know where to start. You should probably check out this page, http://www.bwca.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=gear.your, which includes info and checklists for group organizers. Also peruse the listings on the Ely Chamber of Commerce website at: http://www.ely.org/lodging/campgrounds.php to get a sense of what's available and suitable for your group.
