You might try the Westin Peachtree Plaza, which is located conveniently downtown and has family-friendly amenities including indoor/outdoor pools and services through the Westin KidsClub program. A few miles north of Atlanta (admittedly, a few miles can = many miles in Atlanta gridlock!), the Buckhead area offers loads of hotels, restaurants, and shopping in the big Lenox Square mall. Might make a good base, too, plus you've got MARTA access to downtown and Five Points area from Buckhead.
