We would like to take a family trip to see the wild horses near Beaufort NC. We have four children 8 and under.
Do you have any suggestions of other family friendly things to do and places to stay? Or any other practical advise?

You won't go wrong with a day at the beach in this area! There's sand aplenty on the barrier islands fronting Beaufort, including Indian Beach, Pine Knoll Shores, and Atlantic Beach. Hammocks Beach State Park is also a fun day-trip, accessible via a short ferry ride from near Swansboro (note this is only an option Memorial Day through Labor Day). There's also the option of sea-kayaking tours from Beaufort, a suitable option for younger paddlers as the more sheltered marshlands here offer protection the choppier Atlantic surf.
