We will be traveling through Virginia on I 81 South on our way to Memphis and am looking for a couple of place to see while we are going through Virginia. Any suggestions this will be our first time in Virginia.

I-81 is a lovely drive, though mostly because you're looking east to the Shenandoah ridgeline. So if you have some time, why not drive Shenandoah NP's Skyline Drive (http://vacation.away.com/virginia/travel-v2-cid9353-shenandoah-national-park-cid2042-scenic-drives-vacations.html), which will get you off the interstate and onto the ridgeline. As you get down towards the Tennessee line, you might also check out the area around Mount Rogers NRA. Spend a night at the Fox Hill Inn in Marion, Virginia, and wake to fresh coffee, blueberry pancakes, plus a sunrise view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Later, summit 5,729-foot Mount Rogers, Virginia's highest point.
