We will be traveling from OKC, OK to Branson with our grand sons ages 8 & 12. We would like to know points of interest along the route. We know Branson and are somewhat familiar with Springfield but there is more to see I'm sure.

If you are traveling on HWY 44, there are quite a few points of interest along the way to Brandson. The roadside attractions from OKC to Tulsa appear to be sparse, but once you reach Tulsa there are a few excellent options. The Gilcrease Museum is known for its expansive history of the West and American Indian culture. The Tulsa Zoo and the Tulsa Air and Space Museum would also make for an interesting day trip with the grandchildren. Two hours east of Tulsa is the town of Joplin, home of Grand Falls, which is the largest natural waterfall in Missouri. The children might also enjoy the Reptile World Zoo located fifteen minutes outside of downtown Joplin. When you reach Springfield, the Fantastic Caverns should spellbind the family. It is America's only drive-thru cave. Crystal Cave is another site just five miles north of Springfield. Thirty minutes east of Springfield on HWY 44 is the town of Strafford where you can find the Wild Animal Safari. Have a wonderful trip!
