we were at redrock a few years ago ..2007, and the park ranger in the office told us it is possibble to hike back to the old mining camp or town, wich is surrouned with pine trees and a creek runns trough it. he said its a bout 5 miles one way and this time of year ..nov . would be a good time to hike it. since we were there in july the last time , , is it allowed , and are there guided hikes back there in dec.. we will be there the 1st week of dec. this year.

There's no town and only remenats of a partial mine. The rangers do not hike (did he or she look like they hike?) It's only a few miles back and starts at Sandstone Quarry parking lot. I have hiked more than all the rangers at Red Rock combined.

Jack, your best bet is to call the park directly. I'm sure they can give you all the necessary info re. guided hikes, trail specifics, etc.
