We have 3 kids ages, 15,12 & 8. we want to travel the California coast from San Fran to San Diego. Can you please give us suggestions on fabulous things to do while driving the coast. Also any cool hotels etc...
amusement parks, nature parks, beaches, shopping, history?

Ask and ye shall receive. Check out "Beach Boys & Girls Tour" on Away.com (http://away.com/itinerary/united-states/san-diego-san-francisco-1.html), which plots a 10-day itinerary for this route. Hope this works. Personally, I'm a big fan of Santa Barbara, the elephant seals at San Simeon, and Carmel/Monterey. Also, be sure to stop for a bite at Nepenthe in Big Sur (http://www.nepenthebigsur.com). Great grub!
