We are traveling to the Tuscan area of Italy in the beginning of Sept. and ending our week in Venice. Is this a very busy time to go? Also we are staying in Florence and would like to see Cinque Terre, would it be best to rent a car or travel by train to Cinque Terre. How far is Cinque Terre from Florece? We have never driven in this area is it difficult to find our way around driving? We don't know alot of Italian. Are the roads easy to drive without knowing alot of Italian?

Florence stays busy most of the year, though the worst of the crowds should start to taper off in September. Same goes for Venice, though my guess is that either town will still be pretty bustling in early September. As for the Cinque Terre, best bet is to take the train from Florence to La Spezia, from where you can get a day rail pass to explore the coastal hamlets of Monterossa al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore.
