We are planning a visit to Yellow Stone National Park during January 2010. Our flight arrives at Cody-Yellow Stone Regional Airport at 11 o' clock in the evening. We are staying at Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. Can you please tell me if there are transport available from the airport to the Hotel and how far is the Hotel from the Airport. This is our first visit to the Park and I am not keen to rent a car and drive ourselves to the park at that time of night and on roads that I do not know.

You will not be able to drive into Yellowstone Park in the winter months, you will have to ride in on a snowmobile type of vehicle that carries 10 to 12 people and it is enclosed and heated, takes about 2 hours to get into the park and only Old Faithful Lodge has accomodations for staying overnight. My husband and I went last Jan.2009 our first winter there been in the summer about 4 times but loved the winter trip the best every, went snowmobiling and stayed in a cabin there it was unbelievable, so beautiful ( cold, lots of snow) but awesome.

Stay in Cody. It is a neat town with lots to see and a long way from Mammoth. You would miss about half of the park if your drove to Mammoth from Cody in the dark. You can rent a car in Cody or sign up for a bus tour of the park from Cody.
