We are planning a vacation to Cape Cod Ma. Have never been there. We going to visit Marta's Vineyard and Nantukett. We RV and love towns that we can bike from the campground to visit beaches, shops, resturants. What suggestions on places or towns to visit. We also have 50 cc scooters. Are the roads safe to travel with them or are the bikes a better choice due to traffic? What time of year is the best to visit due to weather? We will be staying 2-3 weeks.

Take a look at the area around Eastham and Orleans, which will out you close to beaches, restaurants, grocery stores, etc. The main Route 6 drag up the Cape, in my experience, is quite busy and not ideal for bikes and scooters, though you should be able to zip around on the back roads. Cape Cod also has a decent network of bike-only trails, including a good rail-trail connecting Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet, plus bike trails throughout Cape Cod National Seashore. Best time of year to visit weatherwise is summer, though you might consider going in early June or in September to avoid the worst of the crowds. I was up there in early June one year with my family -- we had two days of gorgeous sunshine (though water was still a bit nippy for swimming), followed by a foul Nor'easter that put a chilly dampener on things. There's not a great deal to do on the Cape when it's raining, especially with little kids!
