We are planning a family vacation (two adults, two middle school kids) to Phoenix the week of April 24th - 30th. What do you suggest would be fun activities for kids? They like ghost towns, history, water parks, outdoor activities. We will probably visit the Grand Canyon too. Thanks!

Should be a really nice time to visit Phoenix. I was there last November and had a blast. Loads of great stuff for kids, especially if you're outdoorsy. You could try rock-climbing in Camelback Park, or hiking or mountain biking in South Mountain Preserve. Call the guys at 360 Adventures, as they've got some great programs and will really show you the local lay of the land. For something a bit more advanced, ask them about canyoneering tours for beginners. The canyons should be ripe for exploration. Another cool outfit to contact would be Arizona Outback Adventures to set up a mountain-biking trip through McDowell Mountain park. Loads of great places to stay, too, including some resorts you may never want to leave. You could also tack a night or two on for a stay at Saguaro Lake Ranch, where you can do horseback riding, kayaking, and more. Here's a link to a gallery I put together with more info on some of the places I mention above. Let us know if you have any other questions! http://bit.ly/hj8Sxt
