We are planing to go to NEw York this summer, this is our first time and we are a little confuse where should we visit. We have 2 kids( 6 and 8). Please if you have been or living in New York, give me some ideas where are good places for us to go, thanks so much.

I took my kids (6 & 4) to New York last summer and we had a blast! Central Park is fun, including all the musicians and costumed characters performing on the street for your entertainment (& money!). The zoo in Central Park is worth a visit, too. We enjoyed the Museum of Natural History, which has great dinosaur exhibits and a hands-on room where you can pretend to dig for dinosaurs and the like. Head up to the "Top of the Rock," which is atop 30 Rockefeller Plaza. It's a bit pricey, but great views of Central Park, Empire State Building, and other Manhattan highlights (we went in morning and crowds really weren't all that bad; I'd imagine Empire State is much, much busier). Lastly, take the Staten Island ferry for a good water view of Manhattan as well as the Statue of Liberty. A much cheaper option than the concessionaire tours out to Liberty Island itself. We stayed at the Affinia 50 in Midtown. It's quite expensive (aren't they all?), but good location and amenities for family travelers. Here's a profile of the Affinia 50 on Away.com: http://bit.ly/jSqAK8
