We are going to Erie, Pa on a weekend as a family with 18 and 20 year old kids, what would be some off-the-beaten-path kind of things to do or see? Historic, amish, fun, shopping, etc.

Not sure what your family's "pace" is, but the Erie lakeshore offers some fun outdoorsy stuff in places like Presque Isle State Park and Allegheny State Park (bit of a longer drive over the PA/NY stateline). You'll find biking and hiking trails to explore, the perfect spot to enjoy the changing fall colors! Another idea might be to do a wine-tasting tour of some of the area wineries. The Chautauqua-Lake Erie Wine Trail is about 40 miles long and cuts through 30,000 acres of vineyards along Lake Erie in western New York and Pennsylvania. There are 21 wineries to choose from!
