We are bringing our 13 year old grandson to Maui on Spring Break. What are some things he can do without grandma and grandpa participating but tagging along.

The best answer to your question will depend a little on where you're staying, as many hotels and resorts will offer organized activities for different age groups. Not sure what your grandson likes in terms of activities, but some ideas that spring to mind include golf clinics, scuba and//or snorkeling tours (you can sit by the pool or join the boat outings if you don't wish to participate). The Haleakala Skyline Tour -- the United States' first adventure zipline -- might be worth a look, too. Mountain-bike tours down the slopes of Halekala volcano might be another option, though you will have to check with outfitters for their policy about younger riders (as in, you may need to go with your grandson; depending on your fitness level, however, this is one exhilarating ride). Plenty for you guys together, of course, including a visit to Maui Ocean Center, tours of Haleakala National Park, and carefree, lazy days on the beach! Have a great time!
