April is the perfect time to come up and visit, with the arrival of warmer spring weather and before things get too crowded up around the village. It might still be a little chilly out on the water, but you should try get out on the lake, either on a motorized tour or via your own steam through rentals from someone like Lake George Kayak (http://www.lakegeorgekayak.com/). On land, there are miles of great lakeside hiking and biking trails. April is also the start of whitewater-rafting season on area rivers including the Hudson, Black, and Moose rivers. The Moose is probably the wildest, though is a bit further from Lake George itself. Adirondack River Outfitters run trips down the Hudson from their base in North River, 27 miles northwest of Lake George Village (http://www.aroadventures.com/welcome.htm). If you're feeling a bit zany, Gore Mountain has its annual end-of-season pond-skimming championships on April 7; more info here: http://www.goremountain.com/mountain/moreinfo.cfm?id=182
