Traveling with very small children to the Caribbean Islands? We would like to go to the Caribbean islands from NYC with 3 small children (1,2,and 3 years old!) 1) Where would be the easiest place to go flying direct from NYC? 2) Should we stay in an all-inclusive hotel or rent a villa?

The Dominican Republic has multiple direct flights daily from NYC. The all inclusives work, but more and more people find the restrictive. Check out a small town outside Puerto Plata called Cabarete, as it has numerous condos on the beach, villas for rent and lots to do randing from sports to nature walks.

Luckily you're in NYC, so you can expect to fly direct to many Caribbean destinations without having to change flights. The Bahamas is a very accessible, family-friendly choice. And although it's not the Caribbean, what about Bermuda, a much shorter flight from NYC? It's less than two hours by plane, plus the island is small and easily manageable for families with young kids. Check out the Elbow Beach resort, a great spot for vacationing families.
