There is Entertrainment Junction in West Chester. It's a huge building full of trains and lots of hands on, kid friendly stuff. There is also the Lebanon-Mason Railroad. They offer various themed train rides during the year.

You don't say whether you're traveling with your nephew or looking for souvenirs for him. However, you'll probably find something of interest at the Cincinnati Museum Center, located within the vaulted spaces of the city's Art Deco-era Union Terminal. This reconfigured building now houses several museums and cultural venues, including the Cincinnati History Museum. Here, you can learn about the city's development over the past two centuries, including a life-size 1940s streetcar and model of the city with working trains and inclines. Hope this helps!
