There's (1) Enchanted Rock, north of Kerrville. Pick a hike, according to ability. (2) Bandera Wilderness Park, out west of Bandera. [follow the signs...10 mi out of Bandera.] [hike, bike, horses, and dogs on leashes, this one only.] Also, pick a hike, according to ability... both are day hiking areas. [can be camping out, too...] family friendly...and (3) Lost Maples Park...good hiking...according to ability.

What about Bandera, the self-styled "Cowboy Capital of the World"? Various ranches, like the Flying L, offer laid-back fun like hayrides, horseback riding, swimming, tennis, and basketball.
