Taking my S.O. to Yosemite for the first time. We are staying at Yosemite lodge. His heart is set on hiking Taft Point and we only have one full day. Glacier Point is 4 hours round trip from the Lodge. How can we combine Taft and maybe Navada Falls via Panorama? Any combo hike as an alternative combinations that take it all in? We have 7 to 8 hours. "Strenuous" is ok. Thanks!

Jennifer, I don't think it's possible to do all that hiking in a single day. By my reckoning it's about 15 miles to tackle the Panorama Loop (including Vernal and Nevada falls) from Glacier Point. (Hop the Yosemite Valley shuttle at stops 16 or 17 near the nature center at Happy Isles at the end of your day to get back to the lodge.) The lollipop loop to Taft Point is about 18 miles, so a big day with plenty elevation. Either way, you'll have a great (if tiring!) time, but just be realistic about what you're capable of in the time you have available. Be prepared for changes in weather, too, plus let someone at the lodge or a friend or relative know about your plans.
